Planned Server Maintenance

It is necessary to take WebCT and WebCat offline at regular intervals for maintenance and/or upgrades. When such maintenance is necessary, every effort will be made to perform it only during scheduled server maintenance windows, which are listed below.

Please note that there may be an occasional need to perform maintenance during other times due to emergency situations. Such downtimes will be communicated on the WebCT Homepage, as announcements within WebCT and WebCat, as calendar entries within WebCat and via e-mail from the ITS Helpdesk.

If no server maintenance is required during a scheduled maintenance window, then the service window will not be used and no systems will be taken offline.

Instructors and students should plan their use of WebCT and WebCat with these server maintenance windows in mind, and should expect that these systems may not be available during such times. For example, instructors should not schedule assignment due dates, quizzes, etc., near these times, and students should not plan to access their course materials during these times.

Maintenance is typically scheduled for the first and third Saturdays of each month from 6:00am - 3:00pm, with a four-day maintenance window scheduled for the end of the semester.
