How do I obtain my WebCat username and password?

My username and password do not work.

How do I obtain my username and password?
Students login to WebCat using their WCU Student ID (a nine-digit number beginning with 92) and its associated PIN. If you do not know your 92 number, please contact the IT Services Helpdesk at 828-227-7ITS (Toll free at 866-WCU-7ITS).

My username and password do not work.
Usernames and passwords are case sensitive. Make sure your caps lock key is not pressed when typing your password. If you cannot remember your password, please contact IT Services.

I can login, but I cannot see all of my courses.
Courses will not be available to you as a student until one week before the beginning of a course. If you've added a course during the drop/add period, the course will not be available in WebCT until the next day.

I have been enrolled into the wrong course(s).
WebCat is synchronized with Banner, WCU's Student Information System. Be sure that you are truly enrolled in the course(s) you believe that you should be seeing. If you are certain that are not seeing courses you should be (or are seeing courses that you should not be), there may be an error with your account. Please contact IT Services to have this problem resolved.

I click on a course but it says "The instructor has denied your access to this course."
Instructors may deny access to their course until the course is ready. If you receive this message, please contact your instructor.

I click on a course but it says "This section is not yet available."
This message will display if your instructor has not yet added any content to the course. If you receive this message, please contact your instructor.

Is it possible to remove a course that I no longer wish to see?
In the top right corner of your course list (on the "WebCat Home" page within WebCat) you will find the "Edit Course List" icon (shaped like a pencil). Clicking on this will allow you to hide or show any section on your course list as well as rearrange the sections to your preference.

How do I change my password?
You cannot change your password within WebCat. You must do so within MyCat. After logging into MyCat, Click on the "Personal Services" tab, then click the "Personal Information" subtab and finally click on "Change PIN."

What if I forget my password?
You may contact IT Services to have your password reset.

Discussion board posts and mail messages are not appearing.
WebCat mail and discussion board postings appear in pop-up windows. Ensure that your pop-up blocker is either properly configured to allow pop-ups on the WebCat site, or turned off.

How do I navigate through a WebCat course?
When you enter your course, you will see several icons and a menu on the left. Click on these icons or links to access various parts of the course. To move back in the course, follow the breadcrumb trail, which appears at the top of your course below the course name. Do not use your browser's forward and back button.

Why do some courses have different tools and a different look?
Instructors are responsible for the appearance and for the tools available in a WebCat course.

I receive an "File Not Found" error message in my course.
Your instructor has incorrectly linked a page or file inside of the course. Please contact your instructor.

What do I do if Wimba doesn't work?
In order to use Wimba you must have the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed. The software can be downloaded from http://www.java.com. Click the "Free Java Download" button and follow the instructions in order to install the software.

If installing Java did not work, please contact the ITS Helpdesk for further help
